Safe & Healthy Food Program

The Safe and Healthy Food Program targets the industrial animal agriculture sector, where most food animals are raised and many public health risks arise.

Animal agriculture connects the health of animals and humans in a profound way. When animals are raised with humane principles, they thrive with fewer illnesses and need less antibiotics and medicated feeds. By embracing animal welfare, we can eliminate the overuse of harmful drugs, create a better food system, support a safer environment.

The Safe and Healthy Food Program accomplishes our goals by advocating for strong federal policies and corporate actions which protect the health of people and animals. These efforts are made possible by our incredible support network. Donate and visit our action center to take part in transforming our food system and promoting a healthier future for all.

-Our Current Projects-

  • SUPERBUGS

Deadly antibiotic-resistant superbugs are spreading rapidly, due in large part to the overuse of antibiotics in industrial animal agriculture. FACT is a National leader urging governmental and corporate action to reduce the threat of antibiotic resistance.

  • BAD DRUGS

We are working to end the use of dangerous animal drugs which jeopardize animal health and lead to the production of unsafe food. Carbadox, a cancer-causing pig drug, is a main focus of our work.

  • DANGEROUS GERMS

Several dangerous germs like bird flu and Salmonella can spread from animals to humans, sometimes with dire consequences. Our program works to monitor and support animal health in order to protect people from these germs.
